Did you know that
you can learn what an owl's favorite meal is by examing its
puke! Sounds fascinating, right?? It actually
is pretty cool. Just ask your 5th grader. We recently
spent several days digging through the stuff and found everything
from a bird's skull to a rat skull and lots of fur and feathers.
We were able to watch a clip of "Dirty Jobs" that
shows how the owl pellets are collected. We've recently
finished our unit on life science and are just beginning our
unit on physical science. This unit will have a lot
of activities that are done in the lab. Be sure and
ask your child what is going on in science. They will
have some great things to share with you.
Polar bear snot
is coming before Christmas. It is always a favorite.
Density bottles will be made soon and boy are they neat!!!
Check back soon
to see what's going on when we are loose in the lab!!
Boxtops
Update:
We
recently sent in over $200 worth of boxtops. I am in
the process of ordering a set of interactive games that are
hosted by "Bill Nye: the Science Guy". The
children love him and he is a very interesting character.
I think of him as a cool science nerd!! I hope to have
them here by Christmas so the children can enjoy them before
the break.
Don't
forget to send in those old ink cartridges and used cell phones
too. They may be trash to you, but to us, they are money
in the bank!
Please
check this website often. I will do my best to change
it frequently.
