Reading Homework grades will be given every three weeks.
To receive a 100 a student must read at least 10 times
in a 3 week period. Students must read a reasonable
amount to be given credit. I am aware of what each student
is capable of doing and will judge if they have read between
15 - 20 minutes an evening. Reading just a page or two will
not be enough to receive credit for the home work.
The
first test over the state locations and capitals will be on
October 28, 2008. Students have a map and a chart that will
help them to study. There are only 10 states on this
first test. They must be able to identify the state by
it's location on a blank map and match it to the appropriate
capital city. There are many good map games available online.
I have listed one below, but you can find more searching for
interactive maps.

My
Bio>>I was born and raised in Fort Worth. I graduated
from Paschal High School. I knew I wanted to be a teacher
from the time I was in second grade; because I loved Mrs.
Herman, my second grade teacher. Later, I was greatly
influenced by Mr. Ware, my Jr. High choir director. So I went
to Texas Tech University and received a Bachelor of Music
Education degree. I later attended University of Texas at
Arlington to receive my Elementary Certification. I
have spent the last 24 years alternating between teaching
in a classroom and teaching music.
My wonderful husband is Beckville native, Tony Heard. I have
2 sons,Thomas is married to Kimberly and their first
child, Luke, was born in July. Thomas is a teacher and
coach in Hallsville. Derek is a senior at Texas Tech and is
majoring in architecture. I also have 2 step children.
Julie is married to Conner Coleman and is a stay at home mom.
Conner is in the Air Force and they have 2 beautiful children,Caitlin
and Mason. Josh keeps our chicken farm running and he and
Nikki have 3 very lively boys, Tommy, Cole and Terry.
