Beckville Public School Foundation
In recent months several parents and community supporters have expressed an interest in the creation of an Educational Foundation for the Beckville Independent School District. In an effort to determine the interest for such an endeavor, we are asking for input. Below you will see some of the basic principles of creating an educational foundation. Please read the following information and give the school your input concerning the creation of the Beckville Public School Foundation.
Why create a foundation?
The foundation will be created to support excellence in education by providing supplemental funds for enrichment purposes in designated program areas, not otherwise funded by Beckville ISD. Funding does not replace or alter the use of funds from traditional tax-based sources.
What would be the purpose of the Beckville Public School Foundation?
The primary purpose of the Beckville ISD Foundation is to solicit, manage and distribute supplemental funds for enrichment purposes; and to create a perpetual source of funds for educational programs and projects which are not within the budgetary guidelines of Beckville ISD, and/or of which tax dollars cannot be expended. The programs funded will emphasize the Foundation's mission to serve as a catalyst for involving the community in the enhancement and achievement of academic excellence for the children of Beckville ISD.
How will the Foundation be funded?
Programs and activities of the Foundation will be funded by donations and interest earned on investment capital. Monetary gifts will be accepted from individuals, businesses and other foundations.
When will funds be allocated?
Some programs will be funded annually, while other programs may be funded semi-annually or throughout the year, as determined by the Foundation's Board of Directors.
Is the Foundation a function of Beckville ISD?
The Beckville Public School Foundation will be an independent, non-profit corporation that has a vision of excellence in supporting the students and staff of the district. The Foundations will be governed by its own Board of Directors and will be comprised of a cross section of the community. The Superintendent and President of the Board of Trustees of Beckville ISD will serve as officio members.
Who will make the decision of how funds will be allocated?
Members of the Board of Directors of the Beckville Public School Foundation will determine how funds will be allocated and awarded. Community volunteers may be involves as committee members to make recommendations to the Foundation Board of Directors in some program areas.
